This building  is reputed to be the world's first clock. Inside the building were 24 statues, approximately life-sized; window-like slots in the walls were arranged so that a different statue was illuminated each hour, and the entire building acted like a giant sundial. The 24th (midnight) statue would obviously never be illuminated, so it was buried beneath the floor; it's existence was predicted, and when archaeologists lifted that slab of the floor they found the statue underneath.

The statues have all been removed and are now in a museum.
